The Tinwood Foundation promotes understanding and appreciation of the Black art, artists, and culture of the American South.
Using our art collection, and in partnerships with other institutions, we develop innovative programming to enhance the history of American art.
The Art Form
The Tinwood Foundation’s extensive collection focuses on Southern Black art created from the second half of the twentieth century to the present. The collection encompasses a wide range of media, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, and patchwork quilts.
